Antarctica is an adventure Michelle and I have wanted to experience for a very long time, and we’re excited to finally put it on the calendar.

This adventure is still more than two years away. We decided to open registration early because Antarctica is a significant investment, and we wanted to give you plenty of time to reserve your place and spread the cost over manageable monthly payments.

Because we are planning so far in advance, it is important to understand that some details may change. The itinerary, dates, activities, accommodations, ship operations, inclusions, and other logistics may be adjusted as we get closer to departure. The current trip price is based on today’s supplier rates and operating costs. If those costs increase materially, the final trip price may also need to be adjusted. We will always communicate any significant changes as clearly and promptly as possible.

Our planned journey takes us to the Antarctic Peninsula aboard the Ocean Victory, an ice-strengthened expedition ship designed for exploring this remote part of the world.

November is an incredible time to visit. The early-season landscape is fresh, wild, and covered in snow. Adélie, Gentoo, and Chinstrap penguins begin courting and building their nests, while leopard seals may be seen resting on the ice and seabirds—including the wandering albatross—soar overhead.

From the ship’s outer decks to our Zodiac excursions and shore landings, Antarctica will surround us with extraordinary wildlife, towering ice formations, and views very few people ever experience.

We plan on selecting a ship with its innovative X-Bow design provides greater stability and smoother movement through rough seas. While the Drake Passage can still be unpredictable, this ship is an excellent choice for travelers concerned about seasickness.

A doctor is also onboard if assistance is needed, and guests can watch lectures from their cabin if they are not feeling well. Once we reach the Antarctic Peninsula, the waters are generally much calmer.

Although some details will naturally evolve over the next two years, the heart of this adventure will remain the same: experiencing one of the most remote and remarkable places on Earth together.

This will truly be a once-in-a-lifetime MORE Adventure.

Welcome to Ushuaia—the Gateway to Antarctica

Upon arrival at Ushuaia Airport, your included transfer will take you directly to the hotel.

That evening, we’ll gather for an informal icebreaker where you can meet your fellow MORE Adventurers and our local team. We’ll talk through the journey ahead and share important details about the following day’s embarkation.

If you arrive with time to explore, head downtown for a little shopping, enjoy classic Argentine flavors at one of Ushuaia’s local restaurants, visit the Museo Marítimo to learn about the area’s history, or stroll along Avenida San Martín for any last-minute essentials before we leave for Antarctica.

Arrival Transfer: If you arrive in Ushuaia on Day 1, your transfer from Ushuaia Airport to the hotel is included. Complete details will be provided in your final travel documents.

Embarkation Day

Enjoy a relaxed morning in Ushuaia before our group transfer takes us to the port, where we’ll board the Ocean Nova—our home for the next nine nights.

Downtown Ushuaia is compact and easy to explore on foot. Take some time to walk around, enjoy the waterfront, and capture a few photos with the snow-covered Andes in the background.

Once aboard, we’ll meet our Expedition Team and settle into our cabins. Then, head outside as the Ocean Nova begins sailing through the historic Beagle Channel and toward Antarctica. Later, we’ll gather for an introduction to the ship and learn more about the incredible days ahead.

Crossing the Drake Passage

The Drake Passage is known for being wild, unpredictable, and constantly changing—and crossing it is all part of the Antarctic experience.

Over the next two days, spend time on the Ocean Nova’s outer decks taking in the fresh sea air and endless views across the Southern Ocean. Watch for seabirds following the ship, capture plenty of photos, and get to know your fellow MORE Adventurers and the Expedition Team.

The Expedition Team will also offer presentations and share what we can expect once we reach Antarctica. Be sure to visit the ship’s open bridge, where you can watch the Captain and crew at work. It is also one of the best places aboard to spot wildlife, your first iceberg, and eventually land.

There is always an incredible sense of excitement when Antarctica first appears on the horizon. If sea and weather conditions cooperate, we may catch our first glimpse early in the evening on Day 4.

Exploring Antarctica

Our Antarctic adventure truly begins as we leave the Drake Passage behind and the South Shetland Islands come into view. No two expeditions here are ever the same. Weather, ice, and wildlife help shape each day, making this a personal experience unlike any other.

The Captain and Expedition Team will continually watch for whales, seabirds, seals, and other wildlife, keeping us updated whenever something exciting is spotted. Throughout our journey, the team will also share stories and information about Antarctica’s wildlife, glaciers, history, and environment.

Weather permitting, we’ll typically enjoy two excursions each day. Zodiac cruises and shore landings will take us into bays, through channels, around towering icebergs, and onto beaches filled with penguins. That first step onto Antarctic land is something you will never forget.

One day, we may hike to a penguin rookery filled with Adélie, Gentoo, or Chinstrap penguins. The next, we could cruise among massive ice formations while watching for humpback whales or leopard seals resting on the ice. You may hear a glacier calving, watch penguins moving between their nests and the water, or find yourself face-to-face with wildlife in ways you never imagined.

Additional experiences may include overnight camping on the ice, snowshoeing, paddling, or taking the ultimate challenge—a polar plunge into Antarctica’s icy water.

A typical day begins with a wake-up call from our Expedition Leader around 7:00 a.m., followed by breakfast and a briefing about the day ahead. Between excursions, we’ll enjoy meals aboard the Ocean Nova and presentations from the Expedition Team. The schedule will remain flexible so we can make the most of the conditions and opportunities each day brings.

This is the kind of place where you wake up every morning excited to see what Antarctica has waiting for us.

Our Journey Back to Ushuaia

As the Ocean Nova begins its return to Ushuaia, we’ll have time to slow down, look back on everything we experienced, and enjoy our final days together at sea.

We’re scheduled to reach the calmer waters of the Beagle Channel by the evening of Day 10, signaling that our Antarctic adventure is nearing its end. Along the way, you can attend additional presentations from the Expedition Team and enjoy a slideshow created by the onboard photographer featuring images captured throughout our journey. You’ll receive a copy to keep as a reminder of this incredible experience.

That evening, we’ll gather for our final dinner aboard the Ocean Nova—a chance to celebrate everything we’ve seen, the memories we’ve made, and the friendships formed along the way.

MORE Adventures Host: Because our adventures are planned far in advance, unforeseen circumstances may occasionally require a change in who travels with the group. This adventure will be accompanied by Keith, Michelle, and/or a MORE Adventures Ambassador.

Farewell to the Ocean Nova

After breakfast, it will be time to disembark the Ocean Nova and say goodbye to the Expedition Team as our Antarctic adventure comes to an end. We’ll leave with incredible memories, new friendships, and plenty of stories and photos to share.

A morning transfer to either Ushuaia Airport or downtown Ushuaia is included.

Important Departure Information: If you are flying home today, please schedule your flight to depart Ushuaia after 12:00 p.m. This allows extra time in case weather or sailing conditions delay our arrival.
